RIGENER-AM

Regenerating Waste into Advanced Materials for
Additive Manufacturing

ABOUT THE PROJECT

RIGENER-AM is a public-funded innovation initiative supported by Regione Lombardia, aimed at transforming textile and polymeric waste from brands into new high-performance materials suitable for Large Scale Additive Manufacturing (LSAM) in the furniture and interior design sectors. The objective is to “recycle brands’ textile and polymeric waste into 3D printing materials for furniture and interior design,” combining circular economy principles with advanced material science and additive manufacturing technologies to establish a new value chain for responsible design.

Project Objectives

Recover and valorize textile and polymeric waste generated by brands.
Characterize and select waste materials based on composition and impurity levels.
Apply advanced waste-management and transformation processes.

Develop new compounds using innovative bio-polymers suitable for large-scale 3D printing.

Co-design functional and aesthetically refined design objects with partner brands.

Manufacture the final pieces using 3D printing technologies.

Project Partners

The RIGENER-AM consortium brings together leading companies, research institutions, and innovation hubs.

ACBC’s Role

As a partner of the RIGENER-AM consortium, ACBC contributes with:

+

Expertise in sustainable materials and circular product development.

+

Direct collaboration with fashion brands to collect and categorize waste.

+

Support in defining new functional and aesthetic application.

+

Experience in bridging design, materials engineering, and responsible innovation.

Transforming Waste into Innovation

The project aims to recover and valorize textile and polymeric waste from brands, characterize these materials based on their composition and impurity levels, and transform them through advanced processing into new compounds enriched with innovative bio-polymers suitable for large-scale 3D printing. Working closely with partner brands, the team will co-design functional and aesthetically refined products, which will ultimately be manufactured using cutting-edge additive manufacturing technologies.
